ESOX Yak Hair is genuine, carefully selected yak hair for the demanding needs of the predator angler. Yak hair has earned its legendary reputation among pike fly tyers for a reason: it offers a unique combination of massive volume, natural translucency and raw durability.

This is the go-to material for building huge, water-pushing flies that swim aggressively without becoming heavy to cast.

• Extreme length (approx. 30 cm): Exceptionally long fibers let you tie huge pike flies with no need to extend the material.
• Natural volume & crimp: Yak hair is naturally slightly coarse and lightly crimped. It pushes water powerfully and creates a massive, lively profile with very little material.
• Water repellency & lightness: Unlike many other natural products, yak hair doesn't absorb water. This keeps even the largest baitfish imitations light in the air and comfortable to cast all day.
• Glass-like translucency: The hair's unique, slightly glassy structure lets light pass through beautifully, creating an incredibly deep and realistic figure in the water that triggers strikes even in passive fish.
• Indestructible durability: Yak hair is an extremely tough, strong natural fiber. It withstands saltwater and the grating of pike teeth from fish to fish without breaking.
• Perfect posture & support: Thanks to its stiffness, yak is a superior support material ("foundation"). It holds the fly's shape together even in a strong current and effectively prevents finer fibers from wrapping around the hook bend.
